Is IUSign legally binding?

Yes. IUSign is fully compliant with the ESIGN Act, UETA, and eIDAS standards. Every document transaction is cryptographically sealed and accompanied by an immutable Certificate of Completion that serves as a defensible chain of custody. See our Legal Compliance Guide for more detail.

Do recipients need an IUSign account to sign?

No. Recipients can execute documents directly through the Secure Signing Portal without any registration requirement. They simply select the link in their email invitation, satisfy any required identity challenges, and sign.

What file formats are supported?

IUSign natively supports PDF, Microsoft Word (DOCX), and standard image formats. Upon ingestion, all non-PDF assets are automatically normalized and converted to ISO-standard PDF/A for long-term archival stability.

How is my data protected?

IUSign utilizes AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS 1.3 encryption in transit. All document assets are stored in a multi-tenant isolated architecture, and each organizational tenant can mandate Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all users.

Can I verify the integrity of a signed document offline?

Yes. Because IUSign utilizes industry-standard PKI technology, you can verify the digital seal of any signed PDF using standard validators like Adobe Acrobat, even without access to the IUSign platform.

What is the "Audit Trail"?

The Audit Trail is a forensic record of every action taken within an envelope, including timestamps, IP addresses, and identity verification events. It ensures non-repudiation and transparency.

What is the difference between "Sequential" and "Parallel" signing?

  • Sequential: Recipients sign one after another in a specific order.
  • Parallel: All recipients can sign at any time simultaneously. You can configure these options in the Signing Order module.

Can I modify a document after it has been sent?

If no signatures have been collected yet, you can use the Correction Protocol to modify recipient details or field placements. If signatures have been collected, you must Void the envelope and start a new transaction.

What are "Public Links"?

Public Links are static URLs that can be distributed to unknown recipients. Any user who clicks the link can self-identify and execute a document based on a pre-defined template.

Troubleshooting and Support

Why hasn't my recipient received their invitation?

The primary cause of delivery failure is local SMTP filtering. Ensure the recipient's email syntax is correct and advise them to check their spam folder. For enterprise organizations, configuring SPF/DKIM significantly improves deliverability.

How do I reset a forgotten password?

Users can initiate a secure reset via the Reset Password protocol on the login page. Administrators can also trigger a reset link for team members via the User Management dashboard.

I am receiving a "Document Size Exceeded" error.

Standard envelopes have a combined asset limit (typically 100MB). If you are exceeding this, utilize PDF optimization tools or consider distributing assets across multiple packets.
