This guide provides technical instructions for the final validation, signature adoption, and submission of an executed document within the IUSign Secure Portal.

Prerequisites

  • Successful completion of all mandatory cryptographic fields.
  • Satisfactory review of the entire document packet.

Strategic Overview

The Finalize action is the terminal step of a recipient's interaction with a document. It triggers the final cryptographic hashing of the document state and the appending of the recipient's signature metadata to the immutable ledger. Once a recipient selects "Finish," their contribution to the transaction is locked and cannot be modified. If they are the final recipient in the routing order, this action also triggers the synthesis of the Signed PDF and the Certificate of Completion.

Implementation Sequence

1. Verification of Mandatory Requirements

The IUSign portal utilizes a "Mandatory Enforcement" engine. You cannot finalize the document until every field designated as Required by the sender has been executed.

  • Validation Check: If you attempt to finalize with incomplete fields, the portal will automatically navigate you to the missing requirements, highlighting them in red.
  • Status Indicator: A real-time counter in the portal header tracks your progress (e.g., "3 of 5 fields complete").

2. Execution of the Finalize Command

Once all fields are complete, the Finish (or Complete) action will be activated in the portal's primary navigation.

3. Post-Execution Handshake

Upon submission, the platform executes the following background operations:

  • Signature Binding: The recipient's digital identity parameters (IP, Timestamp, Signature ID) are bound to the document.
  • Workflow Advancement: If there are subsequent recipients in the Routing Order, the system automatically dispatches the next invitation.
  • Access Provisioning: You are presented with an option to download a temporary copy of your executed document or create an IUSign account to maintain a permanent digital archive.

Data Integrity and Forensic Outcome

Event CategoryForensic Result
Audit Log EntryRECIPIENT_SIGNED event with millisecond-accurate timestamp.
Document StateContribution is locked; the recipient can no longer modify their inputs.
NotificationThe sender receives a real-time alert of the signature execution.
Asset SynthesisThe signature image is "burned" into the document layer using vector rendering.

Strategic Considerations for Recipients

  • Final Review: Always perform a final scroll-through of the document before selecting "Finish." While the portal ensures all fields are filled, it is the recipient's responsibility to ensure the content of their inputs is accurate.
  • Digital Archiving: It is highly recommended to download the executed document for your records immediately after finishing, or to register for a free IUSign account to access your full transaction history.
