This guide provides technical instructions for modifying or resetting your adopted signature within an active IUSign signing session.

Prerequisites

  • Successful entrance into the IUSign Secure Signing Portal.
  • An existing signature already adopted in the current session.
  • Note: Modifications can only be performed before the final submission (selecting "Finish").

Strategic Overview

During a signing session, a recipient may decide that their previously adopted signature (whether drawn, typed, or uploaded) does not meet their professional standards or was executed in error. IUSign provides a non-destructive way to reset and re-adopt a signature asset. This flexibility ensures that the recipient is fully satisfied with their digital persona before the transaction is cryptographically locked and the document is finalized.

Implementation Sequence

1. Activating the Modification Interface

If you have already applied a signature to one or more fields but wish to change its style or content:

  1. Locate any signature field that you have already executed.
  2. Select the Change Signature or Edit action associated with that field (usually indicated by a pen or gear icon).
  3. The Signature Manager will re-initialize, displaying your current adopted asset.

2. Reset and Re-Synthesis

Within the Signature Manager, you can transition to any other signature method:

  • Switching Methods: Transition from Type to Draw (or vice versa) to create a more personalized asset.
  • Aesthetic Adjustments: Change the font style or ink color of a typed signature.
  • Content Revision: Correct spelling errors in your typed name or initials.

3. Global Synchronization

Upon selecting Adopt and Sign for the new asset:

  • Global Update: The IUSign engine automatically propagates the new signature to all fields across the entire document packet that previously utilized the old signature.
  • Asset Invalidation: The old signature asset is purged from the current session memory.

Data Integrity and Forensic Considerations

Transaction PhaseModification Status
In-Session (Pre-Finish)Fully modifiable; no forensic record of the change is required in the final document, as only the final adopted asset is bound to the hash.
Post-Submission (Finished)Immutable. Once "Finish" is selected, the signature asset is burned into the PDF and cannot be modified.
Multiple EnvelopesSignature adoption is generally session-specific. A new envelope may require a new adoption unless you have a registered IUSign account with a Saved Signature.

Strategic Considerations for Professional Signing

  • Finality: Use the "Change Signature" feature to ensure your digital signature is as professional as your physical one. Once the document is completed, it becomes a permanent record.
  • Efficiency: Global synchronization means you only need to change your signature once, regardless of how many pages or documents are in the packet.
  • Consistency: Maintaining a consistent signature style across a multi-document packet is essential for the visual integrity of the final signed record.
